background - Alex came from the city of Terre Haute, Indiana where he grew up for most of his life. Upon graduating from high school, he attended a state university with an urban planning program after some persuasion from a friend of his parents and members of the Terre Haute Economic Development Committee. His vibrant college years quickly bloomed into a job offer in St. Canard, Calisota. With a bit of affirmation from a man within his fraternity, Alex decided to take the position and said farewell to his home state. His career was notably successful at first. Alex quickly made new friends, learned the trade, and became content with his work. But, a subtle notion of disappointment and frustration began to surface. He was a talented planner, but his work didn't meet his initial expectations.  It was difficult to avoid the steering effects of politics and money in any theater. But, Alex had hoped to change the world, not to be limited by the constraints of political deadlock and infighting that had flowed over from the Calisota state government and into every facet of life and business.  Nothing useful could really be accomplished without appeasing certain political factions that inevitably led to the alienation and even wrath of other factions.  All the while, the citizens who needed his expertise and good will the most were the least likely to receive aid or attention from the movers and shakers in society.  Alex felt like he was traveling on an endless loop that led to a few small achievements but never anything truly satisfying or worthwhile. He soon discovered that most problems in the world were either out of his reach or were too large to solve alone. So, Alex simply performed his job to slowly pay off his student loans while just trying to forget about the problems of the world that no one could solve.

Then, perhaps spending too much time alone or listening to too many dark conversations, a subtle fear crept into him. A fear that knowing and accepting the true workings of the world would lead to either immense depression or moral destruction or worse. Trying to save himself from either possibility, he dedicated more of his free time to wandering the city in search of something to put him at ease.  But, he did not know what.  He only knew what to not look for.  Yet, as much as he attempted to resist, the effects of his suspected fears always found a way to slide into his world of fading hope.  Poverty, crime, bigotry, suffering, inequality, and distrust.  All of these occurrences flooded the news and manifested across the world.  And, Alex was just another man caught in the obscured whirlpool of anxiety and paranoia.  So, he continued to wonder the city trying to find an escape from the strange feeling of helplessness.

Alcohol and tobacco seemed like good friends to vent his frustrations and fears to.  However, the more cares he relinquished to them, the less happy he became.  Alex had hit his lowest point.  A hard decision had to be made that would effect his future and the future of the people he forgot were close to him.  He could either submit to his vices and live a short life of selfish ignorance and artificial happiness, or he could exercise his will over his addiction and labor hard to continue building his career and not worry those who care for him.  After deep consideration, an unanticipated spark ignited within him.  Kindled from an invisible fire from deep within, Alex created a third option.  He would steadily, yet uneasily, give up his addictions and find peace and happiness by directly helping the people he was forced to abandon and neglect by becoming a self-made citizen journalist and sociopolitical advocate.  When not working at his original job, he would devote much of his time to strengthening needy communities and spreading awareness of people and nature's hardships to a global audience through the help of several volunteer and not-for-profit groups.  Alex was on the right path, but something important yet indescribable was missing from his life.  Eventually, he found what, or rather who, he had been searching for at an aerobics studio in one of St. Canard's downtown neighborhoods. Upon meeting this person, his world truly began to rise from the dark abyss into a bright, warm light.

One year later...

Alex is fully employed as an agent for SHUSH while keeping in touch with some of his old colleagues and friends. At his side is Sophie Sarcelle, supportive girlfriend and fellow agent, and the two defenders of the world, Launchpad McQuack and Drake Mallard. Although most of his time is spent analyzing a plethora of data and compiling it into graphical format, he is no stranger to the dangers of field work. From his overwhelming first encounters with FOWL to international travels that continue to uncover a haunting global conspiracy, Alex has endured many tests as an agent and as an ordinary citizen. More struggles will come and test his body, morals, and will to the breaking point.

((OOC: Sorry for falling off of the face of the Earth again! A lot has been going on in my life. (mostly good things including finding a full-time job) I'm really hoping to get back to chatting and RPing within the next few weeks, but I don't want to make any promises yet. In other news, I've continued practicing to sketch in my free time and plan on buying a better digital tablet that actually has a digital screen instead of just a touch pad. This means I can do digital drawings in a timely manner instead of taking months to draw something. However, I have some other financial obligations blah blah to take care of first. But, now I'm starting to ramble. Hope everyone has been having fun and is doing well! See you all soon.))

“Oh thanks!”  Alex beamed in surprised delight.  “That’s awfully kind of you.”  Something odd next to Carol had momentarily caught his attention, but Alex quickly dismissed it.  Perhaps his eyes were...

As a relatively new employee with early morning training, and exhibiting an admirable work ethic, Sophie always came into work earlier than most.  Her gusto, and obligations, inspired Alex to come in earlier than he normally would. ...
