Every Little Thing She Does

A few weeks after Quiverwing Duck left his world of origin via a dimensional portal and entered into his current world--which, as it turned out, was not the world he had intended to go to in the first place--he decided to consult someone whom he knew was capable, intelligent, and knowledgeable. She was also the dimensional double of the woman he had been in love with and engaged to for a couple of years, prior to his breaking said engagement.

Needless to say, meeting this world's Morgana Macawber had been a little uncomfortable, but as he'd expected, she was able to offer him important information.

After assisting Morgana in re-obtaining a scrying ball from her cousin Malicia, with whom Morgana had a tenuous relationship with at best, Quiverwing needed a little time to recover from Malicia, and Morgana needed a little time to properly attune the scrying ball.

Thus, roughly a fortnight after that incident, Quiverwing returned to Morgana's manor upon getting her summons, and as he had initially visited her out of costume, he did so on that follow-up occasion as well. Which was to say, he did wear clothing, but it was of a suit and tie nature, and without a mask.

He had also briefly considered the idea of showing up with flowers, and then mentally berated himself the entire cab ride over for even contemplating doing such a thing. Therefore, he was empty handed when knocking on her door, repeatedly reminding himself to behave in an upstanding and professional manner.

"Oh, gosh." Quiverwing stood up, re-buttoning his suit jacket and straightening his necktie. "I apologize for taking up so much of your time, Morgana, but at the same time, I appreciate it a great deal."

He touched his hand to his chest, bowing slightly to her. "Thank you for your gracious hospitality once again. And I would, of course, enjoy engaging in friend-type things with you." He had no idea what she thought that entailed, and he wasn't sure what he thought it entailed, either.

"Great! That's good..." Really she had no idea where she was going with this. "We'll keep in touch then. I will continue my work on the dimensions as well."

"Yes. Thank you." Quiverwing was starting to feel a little self-conscious again, because he was leaning towards Morgana very slightly. He was actually fighting the urge to hug her or do something hug-adjacent. "I... will see you again soon, then. Ah, good afternoon." He managed to take a step back and give her a friendly smile instead, before collecting his hat.

Probably for the best, given Morgana was tensing awkwardly as her own muscle memory fought the urge to lean in and give him a quick peck on the cheek. That is not a friend thing, at least not right now.

Glad we had this talk. Now I must go sort through my vast selection of feelings so I can replay this conversation repeatedly in my head and pick apart every moment where I said something absolutely embarrassing. Surely, things can only improve from this point forward...
