((OOC: RP reserved for Harmonizer and Lenore DeSpell. I'M SO SORRY FOR THE LATENESS. D8))

After helping Bushroot deliver a plant, Anastasia decided to take opportunity of her short-lived freedom to roam Duckburg for a bit before returning to her warden.

She hummed to herself contently as she paid for a copy of the Duckburg Times, leaning against a post as she flicked it open to a random page.

Where had he gone...? Lenore wandered through the town, ignoring the occasional look of disgust as the young duck kept her eyes to the ground, looking for her toad.

Unfortunately, that meant she wasn't looking where she was going, and after several minutes of searching this way she crashed into someone.

Rather than apologize, the first words out in her usual flat tone were "Have you seen a toad?"

"Have you seen where you were going?" the irate man snapped at her. "Look what you made me do with my coffee! My suit is ruined!"

Anastasia looked up from her paper, frowning a little.

"You owe me a new suit, you little twerp! Where are your parents? I want a word with them!" he was still berating the girl when she walked up to them.

"Ees there a problem?" she asked, folding her arms. "Don't you 'ave better things to do than pick on a kid?"

The man turned to her in surprise. "Are you her mother?"

        "No."

"Then poke your nosy bill elsewhere!"

She stood up silently, dusting herself off before looking at the man she'd run into. Wordlessly, she pulled a sponge out of her lavender bag, drew runes on it, and held it to the man's coffee-stained shirt; as she started quietly chanting, the coffee was pulled into the sponge until it was soggy and brown, the small witch dropping said soggy sponge into the man's cup before turning to the new duck.

"Have you seen a toad?" she asked just as flatly, no longer paying attention to the man.

With nothing more than a "hmph", the man continued on his way, grumbling to himself about punks and freaks and weirdos.

"Are you okay?" Anastasia asked the girl, not exactly surprised by what she did earlier, then blinked at her question. "A toad? I don't think so. Why? Are you lost?"

"Somewhat," she admitted, her tone not changing. "Lenore DeSpell. I am... new to Duckburg. My toad Wartimer hopped off while I was browsing."

Anastasia smiled. "Nice to meet you, Lenore. I'm Taz. Well, Anastasia, but my friends call me Taz," she chuckled, tucking away the newspaper. "Come on. Let's go find your toad. Where did you last see 'im?"

Perhaps she could use her hearing to track the amphibian down.

"We were downtown, near the flower shop," she answered, pointing down the street she came from. "By the time I got to the intersection I realized he wasn't there."

She'd looked around the shop (well, as much as she could before the store owners got annoyed) but couldn't find the brown toad.

Anastasia nodded thoughtfully. That was all she needed. "Alright. Let me try."

From what she said, she hadn't gotten far before she lost her toad. That meant it was somewhere around this vicinity.

She stood still for a moment and focused, tuning out the sounds of the busy street and cars, listening for signs of the wandering toad. She might get a mild headache later from using her hearing powers but she was happy to help.

It is logical to infer that where there are flowers and plants, there are bound to be bugs of all sorts; the old bird that worked there had grown used to all the flies buzzing around, ants crawling about...

Nothing prepared her for the sudden pink thing that shot out and grabbed one of said flies, the old lady nearly dropping a vase in shock.
"What-!?" She looked down to see something brown. It almost looked like someone dropped mud... until a pair of eyes blinked and it croaked.

Anastasia blinked, then her face broke out in a smile. She walked towards the mud patch and gently picked it up, showing it to Lenore.

                        "Ees zis your Wartimer?"

The younger girl walked forward, looking for something in her bag until she pulled out a squirming cricket.

"Bad toad," she said in her flat tone; Wartimer simply croaked, tongue shooting out an instant later for the cricket.

"Thank you for finding him Miss Taz," she continued, holding her hands out as Wartimer hopped out of the older girl's. "If you need my help I have managed some living accommodations in a tree on the east side of Duckburg, with large mushrooms on the trunk. Hard to miss if you look at the details."
Wartimer croaked again, one of the cricket's hind legs still twitching before it got pulled into the amphibian's mouth.

"Eet was my pleasure," Taz continued smiling. "I'm just 'appy to 'elp."

If she was confused by the mention of the thirteen year old girl living in a tree, she did not show it. She lived in an abandoned opera house. She couldn't judge.

"Wait a minute..." she tilted her head to the side questioningly. "Eet's nearly lunchtime. Do you 'ave someone?"

She looked up at her expressionless.

                              "Someone to what?"

"Well..." Taz scratched the back of her head, "to take you to lunch?" Sensing the topic was getting awkward, she quickly put in; "Actually can I take you for lunch? I'd love to get to know you."

Yeeeeaaahhhh because most kids would totally accept a random stranger's offer to have lunch with them. Next thing they know, they were going to be lured into a van that said 'free candy'!

Lenore looked at Taz, then to Wartimer for a few moments in silence, before...

                                  "Okay."

"Come on then!" she beckoned to Lenore with a smile. "I think I know a good place!"

Just down the street was a food plaza. It was just as Taz remembered it. Although with a new added renovations.

"So, see anything you like?" she asked her.

The young witch looked up at the menus; she'd never even dreamed of a variety of foods this wide from where she'd just come from. It was mostly just gruel there, sometimes fruit if she was daring and lucky enough, but this was almost... overwhelming.
Not that it was obvious, of course.

"... I think a sandwich would be okay."

Taz grinned. "Okay!" Turning to the vendor, "I'd like a triple decker, teriyaki beef and onion, cheese and egg sandwich, please. And with a side of fries!"

                                        What, too much?

She paused, then looked at Lenore. "Wait a minute, do you 'ave allergies or abstinence towards certain foods?"

After changing the order if necessary, she ordered her own choice of food as well, and gestured for her to sit down at an empty table.

"So, what brought you to Duckburg? You said you were new here."

She simply shook her head, accepting the meal given to her.

"I suppose you could say... personal business," she answered flatly as they sat at the closest empty table, her toad hopping down to sit under more shade than his owner's hair could provide.

Taz looked curious but she didn't pry. She nodded and took a bite out of her own sandwich. She did want something answered though.

"I 'ope you don't mind me asking... but are you a witch?" she asked lowly. "You wiped out like zat coffee stain like eet was nothing," she chuckled. "Wish I could do zat. Eet'll be much easier to get rid of bloodstains."

                                            What.

"Yes." She didn't even make an effort to dodge the question. "I am not entirely well-read on the subject, but so far I have learned enough basic spells to get by for now."

The blood statement pulled her gaze from her sandwich to her new... 'friend'.

"... the runes also work with blood given a modification here and there if you need it," she suggested, "I can write them down and you can apply them to a sponge. The chanting simply speeds the process."

Briefly she wondered if Lenore could sense her powers like Lexi did, but she didn't seem to notice anything. Then again, she didn't seem like the chatty type.

She was grateful when the child offered to help. "I'd love zat. Thanks."

The young witch pulled out a notebook, scribbling the runes down on a paper napkin before handing said napkin to Taz.

"Write it on a sponge with a permanent marker," she instructed dully, putting her notebook back in her bag, "and wring it out when it's full."

"So, are you enjoying your lunch?" she asked, already down to the last few bites of her sandwich. "Want me to walk you back later? Oh! I can show you around Duckburg so you won't get lost next time! Well, I mean, eef you want to."

She reached out to stroke the toad curiously, wondering how he'd react.

Lenore nodded as she finished up her meal, Wartimer moving slightly towards the other duck as he was stroked, a quiet croak of satisfaction audible.

"I would like that," the young witch answered flatly once she finished her meal. "I am still not entirely familiar with the town."
