Hell Hath No Fury (Part 2)

Reserved for: Ariana, Negaduck, Malicia.

With the map finding its way into Negaduck's hands, it wouldn't be long before he set sail to the cave. In the meantime however, the Macawber cousins simply had to bide their time.

Malicia avoided Ariana as much as possible. Unless she had something new to add regarding their plan for Negaduck, she had no interest in conversing with her cousin. Instead, she kept to her own quarters where she ate and drank. She seemed to be mentally preparing herself, deciding how she would exact her own personal vengeance. Should she torture him until he gave up the identity of his silver-eyed lover? Cast a curse over him? Remove his gonads? Decisions, decisions...

Finally, the day had come.

"Mistress! Mistress!" One of the servants approached frantically. "I've received word of a ghastly ship approaching just off the coast!"

Malicia set down her glass of wine. "You don't say. Find my cousin and have her meet me in the hall entrance. Tell her the time has come... she'll know what that means."

Meanwhile, Ariana had spent her time mostly in the library.  She didn't want to talk with Malicia as much as Malicia didn't want to talk to her, and she marvelled at how many options there were.  The romances especially drew her in, unsurprisingly, and while Malicia considered the best way to disembowel their common "suitor," Ariana once again felt a pull in her core.  It was an insistent urge, a need, and she felt incomplete without it being fulfilled.

She dreamed of his hands on her flesh, those cold eyes boring into hers to claim her, his voice calling her his angel...

She nearly jumped out of her feathers when the door opened and the servant popped her head inside.

"Oh, there you are, miss!" the servant gushed.  "Did I startle you?"

The blonde sat up a bit straighter and closed the book she had had open in her lap.  "N-no...what is it?"

"Milady says to tell you 'the time has come.'"

It took her a few moments in the giant skirts, but Ariana was soon at the redhead's side at the hall entrance.  "He's here?" she inquired almost breathlessly.

Almost. As the monstrous vessel drifted through the mist, the crew shifted in unease. Their captain had been acting weirdly - even more so than usual - ever since that map had come into their possession through a rapid mermaid.

At the bow, however, Negaduck paid no heed to their cowardice.

"We're here!" he whooped as the caves drifted into view. "Prepare to drop anchor!"

Clinging the map with a greed that hardly befitted a mere piece of parchment, hoovering up its scent.

        "I can nearly taste it!"

What he was tasting, in fact, was the map. Like some sort of inked entree.

A couple of the pirates exchanged looks. Wrong beyond words. But wasn't he ever?

Malicia nodded. "The ship has been spotted. We need to get to the cave before he does." She beckoned hastily for Ariana to follow.

Fortunately the cave was closer to the vineyard than it was in proximity to Negaduck's ship, and so they made it there in good time.

          Now, to set the trap...

"I've placed a magic circle on the ground, hidden beneath the foliage. It's located directly in front of the treasure, so he should stand right on top of it." She explained. "That should keep him from running off on us."

Ariana smiled.  "Good idea..."  Her thoughts drifted to what she wanted to do to the mallard when they caught him.  A lecture/rant, some gloating, a couple of spells, toy with his emotions...kissing that long bill, pressing against his rough feathers...

She shivered and shook her head.  Why was it so hard to focus on what they were there to do?  He was so close...

"Are you sure the replica of the Scepter of Malacca and the glass jewels will be enough to fool him?"

            • Negaduck

How gullible did they take him for?

Unawares of the plotting maidens, if thus they could be called, the gang had made its way through the cavern. Fanned out and the by fire light of torches, the Four guarded the flanks, twisting at each noise and flicker of shadows.

Captain Negaduck was out in front, of course, because if anyone was going to do any grabbing, it would be him.

Ahead, a glimmer that suggested grabbing would be imminent.

"The treasure!" their captain breathed, stepping forward, as time itself seemed to slow...

... and scooped up the swag.

"Ah HAH!" Delight soon replaced with doubt. "Wait a second..."

That sceptre did not feel as weighty as it should have. And the smell.. there was something off about the smell.

              "Is this chocolate?"

The legends did not mention anything about edibles!

Ariana's question was answered soon enough.

As soon as Negaduck had nabbed the loot, the ground beneath them began to rumble and a glowing circle began to etch itself around the Captain, sealing him inside an invisible barrier.

                A disembodied voice boomed loudly.

"Leave now or suffer the same fate as your leader. All will perish!"

But surely his trusty gang of thieves would stick around to help 'ol Negaduck, right???

As soon as Ariana laid eyes on the captain, traces of the plan flew out of her head.  There was a powerful pull that tempted her to jump out of hiding and tackle him.  It almost make her quake with need.  He was right there...irresistibly close.  She wanted him so much she already felt her body stir.

It took every last ounce of her will power to stay put beside her cousin.  The boom of the threatening voice cut into her trance, and she remembered how it felt to be without him - the way he had dumped her on the island like refuse.

Even with the flicker of anger, she had to stifle a giggle at the way the pirates reacted to the thunderous warning.

Which was to bravely scream like children and courageously flee for the ship.

"HEY!" roared the captain about as loud as the ominous warning of doom, yet without the ominous ability to actually get after them. "GET BACK HERE! What sort of treachery is this?!"

And what sort of wall was this? Could he touch it? Punch through it? Glare it to bits?

A lesser priority though than the urge to maim every one of those useless sea snakes. Chocolate or not, surely the spectre could dent some heads...

Malicia turned to Ariana. "Now we restrain him. I say we combine our magic and pin him to the ground." She raised her arms in preparation, expecting her cousin to join her.

"We can reveal ourselves once we know he's helpless."

                      Relatively.

Ariana mimicked Malicia, and there was another loud rumble as the ground shook again, forcing Negaduck off of his feet.  As he hit the ground, parts of the rock flooring jutted up to encase his wrists and ankles in makeshift shackles, pinning him flat on his back.

                        "Now?" Ariana whispered in anticipation.

                          "UGH!"

Thrashing against his bonds, Negaduck was not happy about this turn of events.

"When I find out who or what is behind this, you're going to wish the kraken got you first!"

To be fair, the kraken was quite a jovial beastie when you got to know her. Very fond of cuddles.

She nodded to Ariana. That was their cue.

"Oh, come now Captain... surely you're happy to see us." She stepped out of the shadows and leaned over him, smiling darkly.

Reaching down, she stroked his jaw playfully. "Looking handsome as always, I see."

It took him a moment to remember how to work that handsome jaw.

                              "Malicia! Ariana!"

His gaze flicking between the two like a sewer rat caught in a trap. Wait, was that even an analogy?

"How.." Terrifying? Soul shaking? "Lovely to see you both."

Both. Together. In the one place. Within talking and potentially plotting distance of one another.

That kraken was looking better and better.

"We thought you should be on the receiving end of some emotional comeuppance, if you're even capable of feeling."  It was taking everything in her to stay on task and not jump his bones.  She had to cling to the memory of the ship leaving port over and over to maintain her level of anger.  "...I see you got our map."

If Ariana was trying to hold herself back, she was about to find it even more difficult. Malicia was undressing the Captain as she spoke, starting with his jacket and hat.

"It's time you bared your soul to us... and then some."

A lump of -was that hope?- caught in his throat. Every fragment of his being was warning of impending doom, yet a small part couldn't help but see promise in their actions.

"If it were fun you wanted..."

Tugging at the entirely unnecessarily shackles.

                                    "Ye could've just asked?"

A joke. Just a joke, one part charisma three parts utter terror. Unless, of course, the answer was in the affirmative.

Ariana had to shift her weight, swallowing thickly.  "What are you doing...?" she asked Malicia hoarsely.  "I thought we were just going to talk to him..."

                                        Shing!

A dagger plunged itself --mere centimetres-- from Negaduck's groin, settling itself in the ground between his legs.

Your joke is not making me laugh.

"Ariana." She began firmly. "I didn't spend months planning this just so we could all sit down and 'talk'. We have him at our mercy and I am going to have my revenge."

With his coat removed, she moved on to his gloves. Grabbing hold she began to tug. Eesh... these were hard to get off. Did he glue them on to his hands?

"Ariana, grab the other glove." She instructed through gritted teeth as she pulled with all her might.

Ariana knelt down, but was clearly hesitant.  She wasn't sure what Malicia was doing, but she didn't want Negaduck to get physically hurt.  It was one thing to want revenge for a broken heart, but entirely another to want to maim someone for it.

And even though she WAS torn by him abandoning her, she didn't want him harmed.  Not in the way she was worrying Malicia intended to.  But she didn't say anything, she only watched the redhead's intent expression as her fingers gently moved into Negaduck's gloved palm on the other side.  Instead of trying to tug off the garment, she just loosely clasped his hand - almost comfortingly.  She couldn't help it.

Swallow. The impaling of that blade was somewhat.. distracting.

Talking sounded much better by comparison. Although, in the presence of both women, it was as likely to end up with daggers elsewhere.

Any further attempts at protest were cut off by the tugging. And Ariana's touch...

As much as he'd fought it, having her so close... And from her behaviour she was not feeling the bloodlust as Malicia was. If nothing else, that could work in his favour.

Locking onto her silver eyes, his expression switched to silently pleading. Come on angel, you don't really want to do this.. do you?

.. except the gradually loosening glove set off alarm bells. Not now! That could ruin everything!

"No! No, look, sweet Duchess, there's really no need for--"

                                            SCHLOP!

Too late. Off popped the left glove, leaving Ariana holding his right. A shame it hadn't been the other way around, because on his left were-

No, nothing like that. Just a normal if rough feathered hand of a sailor, nothing unusual or shiny specifically on his ring finger that was worthy of attention.

Before she could disparage her cousin, her eyes caught sight of the shiny.

"What is this?" Grabbing hold of the finger in question.

She leaned over Negaduck, face to face. Her grasp on his finger grew hotter, and hotter.

"Looks like our Captain has been hiding something..." She was growing uncomfortably hot, the air around her beginning to sizzle.
