About the comics

Boom! Studios and The Duck Knight

On March 13, 2010, Boom! Studios announced Darkwing Duck would have a brand new ongoing monthly comic, slated for release in June 2010. Editors Chris Burns and Aaron Sparrow, along with writer Ian Brill, and artists James Silvani, teamed up to continue the adventures of our favourite masked mallard menace in The Duck Knight Returns.

The series began in June 2010 and officially ended in November 2011, with a total of 18 regular issues, 1 annual, and 2 issues that cross-over with BOOM! Studios’  short-lived Duck Tales series.

Definitely Dangerous and the Joe Books run

In 2016 the series returned under a different publisher with Aaron Sparrow returning as a writer alongside artist James Silvani. The series started by retconning the original BOOM! comics story line and erased the “Dangerous Currency” timeline entirely.

Afterward, a new series was released, starting with “Orange Is The New Purple” and several other smaller arcs. The series ended in March 2017 with a total of 8 issues which were compiled into two separate collections.
